Bianco Nero Piano Forte

17 – 26 May, 2019

Palazzo Reale, Milano

TEMPORARY INSTALLATION BY LELLI E MASOTTI AT PALAZZO REALE, MILANO

What are things, if man is absent? Inert forms, print left in the groovesof history or pulsing figures of the imaginary? And, specifically, what does a piano without a pianist do? Does it wait, meditate, evocate or, simply, is there? Does it miss man at all?

Highly imaginative meeting of languages, Bianco Nero Piano Forte is an implied tribute to music and to variety of its forms, but it is an occasion as well, for different arts, to listen and talk to each other, to seek for composing in a happy enharmonic way.

‘BIANCO NERO PIANO FORTE’ is a special installation, promoted by Comune di Milano – Cultura and Palazzo Reale, as a result of collaboration between Mara Cantoni, Luigi Ceccarelli, Silvia Lelli and Roberto Masotti within the 2019 edition of Piano City Milano.

The exhibition proposes an exploration of the immersive and narrative dimension around the piano through prose and verse, sound compositions and 45 black and white images by Lelli and Masotti.
In this evocative setting, produced by Ravenna Festival, images of the piano, often captured as the absolute protagonist by Lelli and Masotti, are in dialogue with the poetic texts of Mara Cantoni and the original music of Luigi Ceccarelli giving rise to a unitary project enclosed in a video specially created for this exhibition.
