Actress Miriam Hopkins began her career as a chorus girl in New York City in the early 1920s and had a breakthrough in Hollywood in 1932 with Ernst Lubitsch’s film Trouble in Paradise. A colour version of this portrait of Hopkins in the bright Californian sun featured on the cover of Vogue’s on December 15, 1934.
